Wuyi oolong

Da Hong Pao

One of Wuyi’s best-known oolongs, whose name means “Big Red Robe”. A legend tells of an official who draped his red robe over the tea bushes in gratitude after recovering from illness. Today, the name usually refers to a blend of Wuyi oolongs or tea from plants propagated from the original mother bushes; tea from the few surviving mother bushes is not sold. A medium roast produces a dark, rich infusion with baked-fruit notes, woody spice and a lightly mineral finish.
