A Fenghuang Dan Cong of the Mi Lan Xiang type, which translates as “honey-orchid fragrance”. The nose is ripe yellow plum and honey over orchid; the cup is a thick honeyed sweetness with the bitterness typical of dan congs that quickly turns into a long floral finish. It grows on Phoenix Mountain in Chaozhou, where the bushes are left unpruned and the leaf is picked tree by tree. A gentle charcoal roast keeps the fruit in focus rather than covering it.
